Transitioning from Fear to Faith By Mal Duane


We are born into perfec- tion, untouched by external events or the fears and opinions of others. As small children we live life without limitations and self-consciousness. As life progresses, external events, experiences and interactions with people start to influence us and our thoughts.


When I think back to my childhood, I realize that I should have grown up to be an actress. I was a natural! I could perform impressions of anyone; young or old. I could speak with differ- ent accents (an unusual

talent for any child), but when I shared my dream with someone, their harsh words crushed my creativity and I let go of my dream.


This story plays out all the time, in many lives. We hear unloving words around us and those words create fear and anxiety. When we hear unloving words enough, eventually what other people think becomes more impor- tant than what we think of ourselves. This can pull us from our paths and consume us physically, mentally and emotionally.


People can pull us away from our light but no one else can
