SPONSORS OF REGIONAL FOCUS CLS OFFSHORE’S NEW HQ IN GT YARMOUTH IS A CATALYST FOR GROWTH

Oil, gas and renewable energy services company CLS Offshore has unveiled its new headquarters in Great Yarmouth in July 2011.

A total investment in the region of £300,000 has been made modernising and upgrading the former council offices off Malthouse Lane, further developing the quayside site and centralising its operations.

“The new office facility gives us significantly more space than our previous Bessemer Road site,” said managing director, Steve Johnson.

“We’ve completely refurbished the building enabling us to manage our entire operation from one location and providing the capacity for our future growth. We have also made a significant investment in our IT infrastructure to cope with the ever-increasing demands within our business.”

The company, currently employing about 180 people, specialises in engineering, fabrication, construction and installation work offshore. It is also currently completing a major project at one of the Bacton gas terminals where it has in the region of 50 personnel on site.

“We have successfully grown the business and built a strong reputation within the oil & gas and emerging renewables sector. Relocating to these facilities will allow us to provide a more diverse and integrated range of services,” said Steve.

He added that CLS had recently completed a project for Vestas to install 100 turbines on the Thanet windfarm, ahead of time and within budget. The company is currently discussing new projects in the renewable energy sector with leading turbine manufacturers.

“As local people we place great importance on, where possible, using a local supply chain and work force. We believe Great Yarmouth has all the necessary infrastructure and tools to ensure it remains a world leading all energy hub and allow us to fulfill our vision for the future.

“We are committed to investing in our people and introducing the next generation of skills through the apprenticeship scheme and EEEGR’s Skills for Energy programme.” Steve concluded

John Best, chief executive of EEEGR, stepped in for the official opening ceremony after Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis was recalled to Parliament at short notice.

Mr Best read a message from the MP praising the work of CLS as a leading company within the energy sector and adding: “In Great Yarmouth, we have the opportunity to unlock the energy market and be a leading force in the competitive market. Companies like CLS and the investment they are making here are key to our success.”

Mr Lewis later visited the HQ to look around and to confirm his formal unveiling of the plaque.
