SUPPLY CHAIN SEMINAR

Renewable UK Onshore Wind Supply Chain seminar - London

WITH THE UK’S NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY ACTION PLAN (NREAP) SHOWING THAT THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR NEARLY 15GW OF INSTALLED ONSHORE WIND BY 2020, WITH THE DELIVERY OF AN ADDITIONAL 11GW OVER THE DECADE, THE UK IS ONE OF THE LARGEST MARKETS FOR ONSHORE WIND IN EUROPE.

The success of onshore wind in the UK represents an opportunity for UK firms to build on existing supply chains.

RenewableUK, in conjunction with DECC, held this seminar for attendees to hear from expert players who are benefitting from being part of the UK’s onshore wind supply chain and who understand the challenges faced by new entrants and by established companies seeking to grow.

VENUE

The magnificent Hogan Lovells International LLP’s Atlantic House on Holborn Viaduct was our venue for the day. With superb views over the London skyline from the 12th floor, it was difficult to focus on business networking during the comfort breaks.

GOVERNMENT INTEREST

Our keynote address was shared by both the Energy Minister, Charles Hendry MP and RenewableUK’s CEO Maria McCaffery and was followed by a Q & As session.

Both commented on the considerable progress of the onshore wind industry as well as the opportunities for business, not only within the UK but internationally.

The event was organised to recognise the successes that the UK had already achieved and to provoke debate on the challenges to be faced by the onshore wind supply chain, as well as providing the opportunity for networking.

SPEAKERS

The day was ably chaired by Dr Gordon Edge, RenewableUK’s Director of Policy and took the form of 2 plenary sessions with Q & As and a generous break following each

1 The UK onshore wind market 2 The export opportunity
