SPONSORS OF REGIONAL FOCUS ASSOCIATED BRITISH PORTS - LOWESTOFT

The Port of Lowestoft has for more than 30 years supported the North Sea oil and gas industry and is ideally placed to serve the extensive offshore wind operations, to be installed over the next decade, off the Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex Coasts.

2 Greater Gabbard wind farm. Catamaran support vessels and helicopters are based at Lowestoft to service Greater Gabbard.

The Greater Gabbard facility is based within the Outer Harbour. Modern and prestigious offices, control rooms, changing /shower facilities and storage all occupy an area and building previously used for the fishing industry.

Specialist pontoon facilities have been installed for the support vessels and these have recently been extended due to increasing demand.

The only aspect of the facility that required planning permission was the helipad and hangar. Waveney District Council ensured that the application progressed smoothly and quickly. The port is proud of the relationship it has built

EXPERIENCE – ROUNDS 1 & 2 Having been a construction base for the Round 1 Scroby Sands wind farm, the port is now the O&M base for the Round

with the industry. This has enabled the inevitable demands that occur with such a young industry to be dealt with quickly and effectively.
