GREEN DRINKS

Networking in a different way

The new World Trade Centre in Hull was the very relevant venue for this interesting start to a weekend – both business and pleasure.

Following the Green Port Hull/ Siemens announcement we are now very aware of the huge potential renewable energy offers the Humber region. With E.on's Humber Gateway, the Vivergo plant, Green Port Hull, South Humber Gateway and numerous onshore developments, they are rapidly developing the Humber as the UK Renewables hub.

Working in partnership with the World Trade Centre, Renewables Network played host to the event and set a great balance of informed presentations and a great opportunity for decision makers to network.

S QUITE A

particularly for an Editor! On a cold Friday afternoon you would think people would not be interested – but not here in Hull!

This was an opportunity for a briefing on the current state of play for renewables in the Humber, the role the World Trade Centre is playing, and their expectations for future projects and upcoming events. This portrayed the advantage of good geography, a world class logistics centre and a positive, business focused community the Humber will develop as the UK and Europe's renewable energy hub.

FUTURE PROJECTS INCLUDES

• Green Port Hull/ Siemens development

• Rounds 2 & 3 offshore wind development

• Pulse and Neptune tidal projects • Vivergo and South Bank bio-mass developments

• South Humber Gateway • Onshore wind development • Micro Generation

These developments will generate up to £15 billion in spending in the Humber economy through to 2015 and the focus is that Humber based businesses will win their share of this new opportunity.

SPEAKERS INCLUDED

• Sam Pick - Renewables Network • Lindsay West - World Trade Centre

All in all a very worthwhile experience, even on a Friday in the early evening!.. and something for other geographical areas to consider, we believe.
