It also caused the m to not need slaves for industrial jubs like picking cotton or working as black- smiths. Because Africa is the most miner- ally rich contenents on earth and technologi- cally and militarily underdeveloped, they were seen by the european industraial power as easy prey to be robbed and raped for their land and minerals wealth. of the world’s largest diamond company during his lifetime. He became a million- aire by exploiting resources from South Africa and endorsing British settlers and governors to run the colonies. Rhodes was the first to introduce taxes in Africa; when slavery was abolished, he created this new system to exploit Africans even more. Millons of South Africans died be- cause wars caused by Rhodes during the early 1900’s. Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) was named after him. most horrible crime towards the Jews, think again. King Leopold II of Belgium slaughtered 10 million Congolese and mutilated millions in his conquest of Central Africa. He privately owned a corporate state he named the “Congo Free State” and turned it into a la- bor camp for rubber and ivory. Leopold used the natives as

slaves and terrorized them by chopping their hands off when they didn’t bring him enough rubber. His private army, the Force Publique, even made collec- tions of amputated limbs and used them as currency. He ruled the Congo for 77 years.
