Chromatics Rainscreen launched by Cladding Solutions Ltd
Chromatics Rainscreen, a revolu- tionary opaque safety glass cladding solution, available in any RAL colour or digital image of any size, was launched by Cladding Solutions Ltd (CSL) at Ecobuild and is now incorporated into CSL’s rainscreen cladding applications. The exceptional performance standards achieved by the unique Chromatics product – which is not a toughened glass – are made possible by the extraordinarily resilient qualities it acquires by bonding together, at a
molecular level, float glass, colour lay- er and metal, transforming them into a laminate. This results in a wide range of solutions for many exterior and in- terior applications requiring a safety glass cladding solution.
In its role as a rainscreen product, Chromatics is of particular interest to CSL because of its ability to bring out- standing aesthetics and immaculate reproduction of corporate imagery to the exterior facades of structures. For coloured or digitally printed glass cladding, aesthetic quality is of the ut-
most importance and the Chromatics process does not cause any roller wave distortions, pinholes, or transparency variation in the finished product. As the organic pigments are processed at low temperatures, they retain their tone without discolouring or burning, ensur- ing that high grade and design faithful cladding can be installed every time. Chromatics Rainscreen is factory finished. Unlike toughened glass, Chromatics Rainscreen can be cut to size and edge finished after process- ing, which eases installation and offers considerable time and cost savings when closing the building envelope. Owing to its unique make up of
float glass, colour layer and metal foil, Chromatics Rainscreen is aston- ishingly durable. It is shatterproof and safe, with independent testing proving indisputably that, while withstanding considerable force, Chromatics breaks safely under re- peated extreme impact. The panel

The surface whisperer
In the Netherlands new regulations for noise reduction in town centers have in- stigated new measures to reduce noise levels during business deliveries. BASF Polyurethane’s experts have developed an excellent solution – the “loading sur- face whisperer” made of PU. The “loading surface whisperer” is a coat of Elastocoat® C laid onto a loading plat- form’s noisy, bumpy surface. The application means that haulage contrac- tors, authorities that battle against noise pollution and the troubled local popula- tion are all well and truly traffic calmed. By applying a Polyurea coating of just 5mm the noise level is reduced by six

decibels. BASF Polyurethanes devel- oped the polyurethane system Elastocoat C to reduce the noise level of loading surfaces to 54 decibels by applying a coating thickness of just 5 mm. Cutting noise levels was not the only issue – a loading area coating also needs to be durable and protect the substrate from abrasion. Furthermore, it should reduce the rolling friction of pallet vehicles and roll containers. In several tests Elastocoat C’s adhesion and abrasion resistance qualities proved to be highly effective.

rectly to the underside of concrete floors and adds additional versatility to the extensive Promat range. Both the calcium silicate facing board and stone wool insulation of the TLFR BoardTM
are non-combustible and
have an A1 classification in accor- dance with BS EN 13501-1. Promat TLFR BoardTM
is available in
136mm or 166mm thicknesses. When fitted to a 150mm concrete soffit it can provide up to three hours fire resistance, and achieve U-
value ratings as low as 0.20W/m2 K.
The CFC and HCFC-free board is both impact and moisture resistant. Easy to install and maintain it can also contribute towards enhanced BREEAM ratings.

does not shatter but retains its integrity, remaining intact and func- tional until the damaged panel is replaced. The high visual standard is not diminished over time either. The colour layer in Chromatics Rain- screen uses pigmentation originally designed for use as a first surface coating. This makes it immediately UV stable and UV degradation is further negated by encapsulating the colouring under glass. For support systems and fixing, CSL has teamed up with Eurofox En- gineering Ltd, and Sika UK. The three companies have frequently worked to- gether in the past to deliver structural bonded secret fixes between cladding and supports for flowing exteriors free of unsightly mechanical elements.
