The new Acsys suspended luminaire system from Cooper Lighting has been designed to meet the needs of modern buildings that use an exposed-soffit ceiling construction to im- prove thermal management. As well as providing energy-efficient lighting, including an upward element to aid LG7 compliance, the new modular system features built-in acoustic panels to replicate the sound-absorption prop- erties of a conventional suspended ceiling, thereby achieving compliance with the acoustic performance requirements of Building Bulletin 93. In addition, Acsys neatly accommodates the wiring and equipment for ancillary services such as audio-visual and fire-detection systems. Each 1800mm lighting module can be speci- fied with a comprehensive choice of T5 fluorescent lamps in single or twin configura- tions, providing outputs ranging from 21W to 54W. Standard infill sections come in four sizes from 300mm to 1200mm, and these are an ide- al location for speakers, PIR detectors, fire-alarm beacons, sprinklers or compact LED emergency luminaires. Featuring a robust steel construction with a white or silver-grey pow- der-coated finish, Acsys is available with either an aluminium louvre or a UV-stable polycar- bonate microprism diffuser for the downward optic, while the upward light element is provid- ed via a clear reeded panel.
