IDS Leeds wins the prestigious Diamond Award
The Leeds branch of national surface materials distributor IDS has been awarded the prestigious Diamond Award from parent company Saint Gobain for demonstrating exemplary and world-class commitment to Environmental Health & Safety. The award was presented to Raja Hussain, Branch Manager at IDS Leeds at
the Les Miroirs Building, the Paris headquarters of Saint Gobain. Health, safety & wellbeing is a key focus of IDS’s business. The company
invests significantly in employee training and equipment designed to safeguard the health and welfare of its staff. IDS is accredited to OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 with management trained to NEBOSH standards and goes beyond statutory legislation to encourage mental and physical health too. For example, the company is currently running a Mindfulness campaign that provides a toolkit to help its employees improve their resilience and manage pressure from the demands experienced in modern working life.
PWS Worksurfaces’ new water jet machine enhances manufacturing expertise
PWS Worksurfaces have invested £250k in a state-of-the-art water jet machine, enhancing their manufacturing expertise and material palette and further improving the precision and detail achieved when cutting stone. The investment has been driven by the increasing popularity of ultra-compact materials, such as Dekton, Neolith and Lapitech, which the company sees as being an important element of their sales mix in 2016 and beyond. The Indoline 5Model waterjet, from the Technocut range by Italian supplier
CMS, is a piece of CNC-controlled cutting equipment. It delivers water to a nozzle at 60,000 psi, with a small amount of garnet, which then cuts as per the program and chosen design. The nozzle controls the cutting out and rotates to different angles for greater flexibility. This versatility really opens up the design opportunities to create mitred down stands, recessed drainers and more intricate shapes. Find out more about the water jet machine at

Bookings surge for KBSA AGM & National Conference T
he KBSA have reported a record number of bookings already for this year’s AGM, National Conference and Networking
Dinner being held at The Welcombe Hotel, Stratford on Avon. During the dinner, the 2016 KBSA Designer Awards will be presented. Many of the shortlisted entrants have already booked their places. In addition, the Kbsa Excellence Awards; namely the KBSA Customer Service Award along and with the KBSA Training Award, sponsored by the CITB and the Supplier Awards are also being presented .
