Harbor brand to Mexico Six Flags’ bid to open and operate a waterpark in Mexico has been accepted by IMSS (the country’s national social security entity) with plans to open to the public in early 2017 following a major expansion of the former Parque Acuatico Oaxtepec property. The 67-acre (27-hectare) park – to be rebranded Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec – is located in the State of Morelos and has been closed to the public for several years. Six Flags is planning a multi-million dollar investment that will include new water slides, rides and attractions along with several new culinary and retail locations. “We are very excited to bring the Six Flags experience to other parts of Mexico,” said John Odum, president, Six Flags International Development Company. “Our theme park in Mexico City is one of our fastest growing and most loved parks, and we look forward to offering guests thrilling Six Flags memories at the new Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec waterpark for years to come.”
