The waterpark at Rixos Premium Tekirova resort in Turkey is a recent project of Polin’s
a bird’s eye view of a spiralling waterslide created from the company’s initials. And our motto is simply one word: Experience. It reflects both the heritage and the future. With 40 years’ experience across the globe and more than 2,500 waterpark projects, we’ve developed an unmatched experience. Looking to the future, we promise to deliver highly efficient and focused business experience for our clients and also a unique experience for our clients’ customers – the waterpark guest.
“ The
waterpark industry is continually evolving. Theming, interactivity and integrated technology have become key trends. Customers want
waterslides that tell them stories, and King Cobra is a great
example of that
Baris Pakis
picked up many industry awards including the WWA Leading Edge Award, and also Cartoon Network Amazone, Thailand's first internationally branded water theme park, complete with custom-themed waterslides. The Asia market is growing exponentially thanks to the
increase in spending power of middle class and we expect it to play a major role in our growth in the coming years, as identified in our 5-year strategic plan. Polin is planning to increase the share of export sales from 83% (in 2012) to 90% in 2016.
New factory We moved into new production facilities not far from Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in 2015. This is now the largest waterslide manufacturing plant in the World, with a 35,000 sq m closed area. The state-of the-art facility on the Asian side of Istanbul produces 3,000 tones of fibreglass a year and has been certified by a well-know national program called Turquality. Investing in these new premises helps us to execute
our growth strategy to better serve our clients. We are now able to produce attractions with a fast turnaround due to the high-capacity. In fact, when a customer in France suffered an incident last year beyond his control with a contractor, we were able to manufacture a complete new set of slides in just a matter of weeks. Polin's full team includes 500 people in five offices around the world.
New image With the new production facility we decided that, after 40 years, it was time to change our corporate image to reflect our evolving vision. The old image brought us to where we are today, but now we have a new Polin logo and brand mission. The new logo (above) combines a representation of
The changing face of waterslide design The waterpark industry is continually evolving. Waterparks naturally want to offer the most attractive, exciting and appealing rides that attract guests, keep their interest, and make them want to come back again and again. To help them, we design our waterslides according to studies of what guests want. Theming, interactivity and integrated technology have become key trends. This includes waterslide traffic control/signal light systems, sensor systems, timing systems, control units, and the integration of special sound and light effects and media-based developments including augmented reality (watch this space!). Customers want waterslides that tell them stories, and King Cobra is a great example of that. When it was launched in July 2010, King Cobra was the first waterslide in the industry to offer a theme ready integrated into its fibreglass design. And by the way, it
doesn’t have to be based on a cobra. Witness, for example the Humangaslide version at Cartoon Network Amazone.

Industry trends Along with the continuing trend of theming and multi-rider attractions, we think guests’ interest in interactivity is adding a lot of excitement to the industry. It’s why we have introduced what we refer to as effects-and technology-integrated waterslides, as well as the digitalisation and the socialisation of waterpark attractions. Just because you’re in a waterpark you shouldn’t have to be isolated from the outside world! At Polin we are now designing slides and attractions with integrated technology so that our customers don’t have to buy the technology as add-ons. Plus, our patented Natural Light Effects and Special Pattern Effects are incorporated into almost all our projects.
Polin pushes forward We are committed to providing the best-quality product and service by investing in continuous research and development. As we look to the next 40 years, we will continue to expand our RTM line (customers can’t get enough of that shiny finish!) while introducing new signature rides and innovations. I’m confident that this will place Polin in a leading position in the design and supply of waterpark, slides and attractions across the globe and I look forward to adding the 100th country to our list sometime soon!
