Fakuma 2014 | exhibition preview

Starlinger will be promoting its C-Vac integrated compounding module for plastics recycling. It has been developed to upgrade and add value to post-consumer waste, for example by manufacturing reinforced or fi lled compounds.

Compounding is often carried out in a separate step

after recycling, but Starlinger says that its C-Vac module makes it possible to recycle and compound in one process step. After the recycled material has been melted in the main extruder, it is fi ltered and passes to

the degassing extruder where additives, fi llers or reinforcements can be added. The second extruder is a single-screw design, rather than the twin-screw machines typically used for compounding. Starlinger says that this reduces fi bre breakage when adding glass fi bres to the compound. The C-Vac module can be integrated into any existing

Starlinger recycling line and can be designed for throughputs from 150 to 2,700 kg/hour.  www.starlinger.com
