Coperion K-Tron will be showing a BSP-135 bulk solids pump feeder on a pivoting base as well as a gravimetric batch blender with integrated vacuum receivers and powder feeder. The BSP feeders have been designed to provide
gentle, precise feeding of free-flowing pellets, granules, and friable bulk materials. Instead of the usual screws/ augers, belts or vibratory trays, they utilize positive displacement action to accurately feed free-flowing materials. This is claimed to provide uniform discharge, consistent volume and gentle handling. Vertical rotating discs create feeding ducts. Material
moves smoothly from storage hopper to discharge outlet through a “product lock-up zone,” achieving true linear mass flow. With only one moving part, these compact feeders are cleaned in seconds, making them ideal for applications with frequent material changes, says the company Coperion K-Tron’s gravimetric batch blenders are
Erema’s Intarema recycling system offers high levels of productivity, flexibility and energy efficiency
available in various sizes from 0.5 to 25 kg total batch capacity and they include up to eight main feed elements depending on the unit. The blenders include an advanced metering and weighing system that accurately controls all ingredients of every batch to the desired amounts, rather than using averages over multiple batches. The blender on display at Fakuma will be equipped
with two integrated vacuum receivers designed for pneumatically conveying powders, pellets, granular and recycling materials. It will feature a twin-screw powder feeder for handling difficult materials, such as pigments, powders or fibres. ❙

Econ will be running demonstrations of its EUP 10 underwater pelletizer at 11:00 and 15:00 each day at Fakuma. The EUP 10 is a lab-scale version of Econ’s established underwater pelletizers and shares the same innovative thermal insulation technology to prevent freezing of the melt in the die holes. It can handle throughputs of 1-30 kg/hour. At the other end of the scale, the stand will feature a
die-plate assembly from the company’s largest pelletizer, the EUP 6000, that is capable of throughputs up to 8,000 kg/hour. Econ will also use Fakuma to launch its new EPO
100 pyrolysis furnace for cleaning smaller components – it has a charging chamber that measures around 200 mm in diameter and 260 mm in length. ❙

Erema will use Fakuma to promote its Intarema plastics recycling system, which made its debut at last year’s K show. It features a patented counter-current technology that is claimed to offer high levels of productivity, flexibility and energy efficiency. The new technology is implemented where the outlet
from the cutter/compactor meets the tangentially connected extruder. The rotation of the material created by the rotor disc in the cutter/compactor is against the direction of extruder – in previous designs the direction has been the same. As a result of the new configura- tion, the relative speed of the material in the extruder intake zone is increased and the extruder screw acts as a sharp edge which cuts the plastic. Erema says that this novel design means that the
extruder can handle more material in a shorter time and is less dependent on the degree of pre-compacting achieved in the cutter/compactor. It adds that the inverse tangential configuration of its counter-current system ensures that the extruder screw is filled virtually pressure-free with the pre-heated material. The company will also be showing its enhanced
Laserfilter technology for the processing of highly contaminated materials. It features a new scraper geometry and an optimised, directly connected discharge system for efficiently cleaning the polymer melt. The system can be used in conjunction with the Intarema for the processing of regrind for injection moulding applications, for example. ❙
