£65 million facility for Liverpool

Construction of a new purpose-built Students’ Union building at UWE Bristol is due to start at the Frenchay Campus. The building will form a
key part of The University of the West of England (UWE’s) Masterplan, which aims to satisfy UWE Bristol’s changing needs over the next 25 years with a range of building proposals supported by the necessary infrastructure. The new SU will be two
interlinked buildings comprising approximately 3,000 sqm. It will provide spaces to enhance the work of student reps, volunteering, societies, sports and networks in a multi-purpose student engagement/social area, as well as a café, bar, shop and a bookable studio space. There will also be outdoor
landscaped space and a courtyard which can be used as additional space with marquees for major annual events such as Freshers’ Week.
BALFOUR COMPLETES PLYMOUTH WORKSHOPS
Balfour Beaty has delivered a new £6m workshop block at Plymouth College of Art. It includes sustainable features and community engagement. Built on an area of vacant
land within the heart of Plymouth’s city centre, the four-storey building will provide 3,444 sqm of specialist workshop space and will house ceramics, glass and digital design workshops, as well as student workstations, communal hubs and display areas.

by a total of 250 researchers, including University staff, a team of Unilever scientists based at their global Research and Development (R&D) Centre for Home Care and Personal Care products in Port Sunlight, and a broad range of other industrial and academic partners. University of Liverpool Vice-
