MADE IN GERMANY On the path to success
E.U.R.O Tec GmbH is a creator of fastening technology and has become renowned for its ability to provide innovative products, whilst delivering a high-quality service. The company has also taken the next step in its development by starting production at its German headquarters.
E
stablished in 1999, E.U.R.O Tec experienced substantial growth as it built its reputation within the fastener market – benefiting from being able to react to market trends and demands by quickly introducing new
fastening products and ranges. Due to its rapid expansion, the company extended its warehouse and offices at the end of 2009 – doubling the available pallet spacing to over 11,500 pallets. In 2012, after continuing to regularly introduce new products, E.U.R.O Tec decided to expand again by adding a new production building. The new production facility was completed at the end of 2012 and the company started production using customised machinery at the end of Q1 2013. “The customised machinery combines the capabilities of three
or four machines into one customised machine,” explains Peter Beckmann, sales and marketing manager at E.U.R.O Tec. “The wire enters the machine on one side and the screw comes out completed on the other side. Each step on the machine involves different processes – the cutting of the wire; the head being punched; the recess being punched; and finally the threads being added.” Peter continues: “Because we have one machine that carries out all the steps, it has helped us to reduce the amount of time needed to produce screws. The customised machinery can be controlled by one person, enabling us to keep costs as economical as possible and benefit from producing part of our range with the ‘Made in Germany’ guarantee.” For the moment E.U.R.O Tec is focusing on manufacturing its 8mm – 10mm wood construction screws, but will be looking to expand its capabilities in the future. “We are still working with our existing production partners for the majority of our range and will only be focusing on the larger wood construction screws in Hagen. The reason for this is because our larger screw range is the most sensitive when hardening and
galvanising – due to their length – and therefore have very high requirements,” mentions Peter. “By moving the production to Germany we are able to guarantee these requirements are met and that we produce to the highest quality.” An additional benefit of E.U.R.O Tec moving part of its
production to Germany was that it offers the company more independence when dealing with new orders. “We realised that we could save costs and production time by producing specific parts in Germany,” says Peter. “For instance, we do not have to ship the products from other parts of the world, which can sometimes take up to 16 weeks to arrive in Hagen. Add to this the increasing costs of shipping due to the rising costs of energy and the prospect of moving production to Germany became more viable.” Peter adds: “In Hagen we save energy costs, we are more
flexible and we can be more confident in the treatment of the screws. The investment in the customised machinery was significant, but we are thinking of adding further machinery over the coming years. When we built the production facility we took into consideration the possibility of expanding our production capabilities so there is plenty of space.” In 15 years E.U.R.O Tec has seen impressive expansion as the
company has relentlessly created products that provide a unique solution for applications, using a simple design – for convenient and easy application. The company’s ability to spot growth markets and quickly establish a range of suitable products, shows its flexibility to customer demands and market trends. Now with the capability to produce a range of its products at its Hagen headquarters, E.U.R.O Tec is ready for the next step of its evolution. Peter concludes: “Through a mixture of personal contact with customers, innovative design power within the company, and the quality of our service and products, we will continue on our path to success.”
