nails, nuts, bolts, screws, threaded inserts, spring locks, pivot pins, dowel pins, caps, rivets, O rings, washers, circlips and threaded bar. We also offer anchoring material – such as wall plugs, chemical anchors, steel anchors and anchor footings – as well as hydraulic fittings and welding machines and accessories. We guarantee the quality of the material we provide through

various monitoring and checking steps upon receipt of goods, ensuring that all the products we stock are rigorously inspected. One of the resources that helps us is our laboratory, which we are continuing to perfect via gradual investments.”

How does MEKR’S ensure a quality service to customers? “In terms of purchasing, we do so through finding new

suppliers who satisfy the production quality criteria and ensure we offer our customers high-quality after sales service. In terms of sales, we do so through daily communication with our customers, looking for and proposing new solutions to improve customer care levels and consolidation of our relations – on both a business and personal level. Investments in fitting out our facilities, in hardware, in cutting edge technology and in human resources, form an integral part of ensuring high-quality services. For instance, for customers who require a continuous supply of fastening material, while reducing inventory, we are able to offer a Kanban system – with each system tailor-made to the customer’s specific requirements. The system works on the basis of operational and safety

stocks. The operational supplies are stored in containers (marked by label, card, barcode) from which the fastening material is taken directly to the production process. Safety stocks are held at the supplier’s facility. Continuous refilling of the containers is ensured at regular intervals by the customer’s employees or directly by the supplier. Based on information provided by the customer, we draft the optimal distribution of stock, which we regularly evaluate and optimise.”

What plans does MEKR’S have for the future? “Our company's capabilities are founded on the experience

we have gained and the way we have progressively built up the business. Every day we are taking small steps forward, to allow us to grow and offer more options and opportunities for our customers. We are hoping to finish building our new logistics facilities as soon as possible and apply an effective warehouse management system. We would also like to finish development of our laboratory as soon as possible, which will enable us to further focus on improving the quality of the goods we receive. With regard to our business plans, we are keen to continue consolidating our position in the Czech and Slovak markets, whilst increasing exports as a share of the company's overall sales. However, the whole house could come tumbling down because

of steps brought in by the EU. The EU's destructive decisions with the introduction of anti-dumping measures on imports of fastening material from various countries makes you wonder whether it is worth continuing to do business in this field. Through just one of their decisions all of our day-to-day efforts can be undone and a lot of people may lose their jobs as a result.”
