http://www.helimax-rc.com) the first thing you will notice is that it is a bit larger than the 1SQ series introduced last year.
The 230Si Quadcopter has several unique features that make it quite interesting. The most obvious being the larger, 5.7-inch di- ameter propellers. These are made possible by gearing the motors, and the result is more efficient thrust and a milder sound when flying. While the gear boxes do make some noise, gone is the familiar insect-like whine of high revving, small diameter pro- pellers familiar from other quads. Perhaps the most obvious comparison to the sound change is the difference between two-stroke and four-stroke glow engines.
The 230Si offers much more than just a new sound though. The real excitement comes when you look at the additional elec- tronic features it has to offer. Like many small ready-to-fly quads, the 230Si will prove very appealing to first-time flyers. Its stylish design and onboard camera will see to that. To ensure maximum success in this market, the 230Si also features several dif- ferent flight modes suitable for pilots of all experience levels. The manual clearly ex- plains each of these modes and how to select between them.
Fresh from the box the 230Si is appropri- ately configured to ensure success for the first flights. The dual rate function is set to low and the altitude control management system is set to limit your maximum height to about 10 feet above the take off point, re- gardless of your throttle setting. This limit- ed altitude mode is great for beginners and when flying indoors.
