MACHINERY NEWS UniFoil opens up foil printing sector H
orsham-based, leading presentation company Unibind has developed and launched its own digital desktop foil printer to allow customers to produce bespoke foil designs. The UniFoilPrinter offers users all the benefits of foil printing in a cost-effective, compact machine designed to enable short and highly personalised print runs.
The UniFoilPrinter is supported by easy-to-use publishing software, eliminating the need for tooling and set up costs and allowing users to create designs with their own text, drawings, logos and special fonts.
Unibind has developed the product to plug a gap in the foil printing sector between more basic machines and high-end, contract suppliers.
The UniFoilPrinter can print on a variety of items, including finished books such as planners, journals, diaries, wedding albums, yearbooks; photo items such as photographs and photo mats; greeting cards; gift boxes; advertising speciality items and gifts.
The printer has also proved successful on surfaces such as cloth, linen, leather and acetate and is small enough to sit within existing office space and features automatic aligning of the print head using Unibindʼs PC Tool developed specifically for the UniFoilPrinter. Tsol Keoshgerian, managing director, said: “In a stroke, the UniFoilPrinter opens up new markets for foil printing which
previously was only viable for print runs in excess of 500. “With our new product, key customers such as copyshops and commercial printers can now offer foil printing for individual or short print runs. The machine is also very user friendly thanks to software which allows users to upload artwork to the machine. “The printer allows us to enhance our photobook and yearbook products by allowing customers to choose a foil finish on a single piece.” ■ For more information call 0845 226 0887; email

DEPENDABLE: The Amscomatic K-950 folder from M&R.
Amscomatic K-950 Automatic Folding System joins M&R fold
M
&R has added the Amscomatic K- 950 to its line of folding and packaging equipment.
The K-950 is designed to fold a wide variety of garments and other textile items. Itʼs engineered for dependable performance and low maintenance in demanding, high-production environments, and can be easily integrated with other Amscomatic equipment to create a highly-productive folding/labelling/bagging/sealing system. M&Rʼs patented bottom pulling dual- belt (upper and lower) transport system carries garments on a moving belt instead of the stationary plate used on competing systems. This makes it easy to fold garments printed with high density or gel inks.

range while staying parallel to each other. This allows tighter, more consistent folding on all types of products. Wide transfer belts in the second-fold area minimise maintenance and improve performance. The entire garment transport system uses a timing belt drive, which runs quieter and requires less long-term maintenance than chain and sprocket drives.
Plexiglas top covers provide a clear view of the folding process while offering easy access to components from both sides of the machine.
Quick-release side-panel covers allow easy access to the inner workings of the machine. ■ For more information visit
