Zvezdochka is a key Russian dockyard, leader in the repair and retrofitting of submarines and surface ships of any class and purpose. In the past India bought in Russia 10 diesel-electric submarines of pr.877EKM (Kilo-class accord- ing to NATO classification). In 1996 according to the decision of Russian Federation government Zvezdochka as the most powerful shipyard was trusted to open this new page in the military-techni- cal cooperation with India.
