Ambassador Cup Thailand
10 teams, 40 polo players, 160 ponies, 80 chukkas. Players from across the globe gathered together at VR Sports club to battle for ‘The 2011 Argentine Ambassador Cup’, the biggest tournament ever held in Thailand, let alone one of Asia’s biggest.
The 4-6 goal tournament which took place over the course of one week, was the 5th Argentine Ambassador Cup. The enjoyable event was kindly sponsored by two major sponsors; King Power Duty Free and The Argentine Embassy. The event was also considered as the farewell tournament to H.E. Felipe Frydman, the Ambassador of Argentina, who would be leaving Thailand at the end of the year.
As the tournament took place, new and familiar faces fl ew in from around the world to claim the winning title. VRSC welcomed players from France, Germany, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Indonesia, Singapore, Sweden, Australia and of course, Thailand and Argentina.
All the teams were separated into three groups. Group A consisted of Thailand Tatler, Air Asia, Tag Heuer and Land Rover. While Group B teams were Beverly Hills Polo Club, Citibank and L’Oreal. Lastly, Group C was made up of Lacoste, Nusantara Polo Club and Gaterade.
After the matches on Saturday, guests and players enjoyed themselves at a garden party, which was another main attraction of the tournament. Present were H.E. Felipe Frydman with his friends and colleagues from many different embassies, together with celebrities and socialites. The entertainment included a fashion show provided by the

Beverly Hills Polo Club, as well as Tango demonstrations.
Eventually, after many competitive encounters, it was Thailand Tatler and Citibank that came head to head in the fi nal match of the competition. Thailand Tatler had a rough start when Nutthadith Sila-Amornsak, unfortunately was injured just after a few minutes into the the 1st chukka. However, the day was saved when Top, Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn, one of Thailand’s best player took over his friend’s position.
The fi nal game was close, fast and exciting, which kept all the spectators on their toes. In the end, it was Citibank, led by a new comer Malaysian Patrona, Anis Jamaluddin Jarjis, that claimed the title of the champion of the Tournament.
