6 Nicki Minaj - Your Love

Nicki Minaj’s newest tune has an oriental theme to the video - with the main man being a martial arts teach- er with a class of women falling at his feet. Minaj is shown in competi- tion with another woman fighting for the affections of their teacher, whilst also managing to sport a range of hairstyles. The two women fight it out, with a bittersweet ending to the video as Minaj and her man are brought together as he cries over

her fallen body. This song is per- fect for chilling out to, and I can see some remixes coming along...

Kof ft Wiley & Chelcee Grimes– Fire It Up KOF brings us a Friday night pre-club tune with 'Fire It Up'. Kof has teamed up with UK Urban Music Legend, Wiley and Liverpool female vocalist Chelcee to deliver an up beat party track. The video hits the streets of

London and witnesses Kof and his crew partying hard! This gives us an insight on the party scene and is a fun urban pop hit!

DJ Fresh - Gold Dust

Fresh’s track Gold Dust is blow- ing up everywhere! As if the song wasn’t enough alone, this video will definitely make you want to get up and dance - who knew that skipping ropes were so cool?! This video fea- tures clips of all the cool kids round

Chris Brown - Deuces feat. Tyga & Kevin McCall

Dubbed as Breezy’s comeback this tune definitely hits it hard. Chris Brown proves that less is more with a simple black and white video in which the three men show off what they do best without any extra ef- fects, plus we get to see some of Brown’s trademark dancing which never disappoints. The song is about letting a girl go, and we can’t help but feel that Chris is finally let- ting out his feelings about his previ- ous relationship with Rihanna.

Tinie Tempah - Written In The Stars feat. Eric Turner

Tinie Tempah’s new track is a change in mood to the previous hits Frisky and Pass Out - but this is go- ing to be a big one! The video shows the story of Tempah as young boy, struggling with a difficult family life, and trying - unsuccessfully - to show his peers how he expresses himself through his lyrics. This song has real meaning behind it, and Eric Turner’s voice is perfect for the chorus. Written In The Stars will be released on 27th September!

Diary of a Promoter

We catch up with our resident club promoter Jonathon Scales and he gives us the low-down on upmarket clubland.

It’s the start of a new clubbing year this month. London is being hit by a new wave of students joining Lon- don’s universities. Thousands of new potential “customers” makes September a very busy month for guys like me!

It seems to be more difficult than ever persuading a student to come to Movida over Tiger Tiger and clubs are finding it harder and harder to make any substan- tial cash! High end clubs are very stubborn, they think that by lower- ing drinks prices they lower stan- dards, which is why you will not find a bottle of vodka cheaper than £150 + service at any of our nights.

We will see how everything pans out, as I mentioned previously we now have 5 major private members clubs who are now making girls pay to get into their clubs (how tragic!). This is quickly be- ing followed by another 15 who will be introducing this system at the end of the month so girls make the most of it while you can!

On another note.. I am now on my 5th night out in a row! This is the part of my job that sometimes I find it hard to bear.

70k+ a year just for having to attend events isn’t all that bad.

There has been only one party this month which has been the talk of “Mayfair” and that is the launch of Rogue Wednesdays at No5 Caven- dish Square.

It was one of those events that I was very grateful to attend. Think of Rogue as a celebrity networking event, each week celebrities go in the droves via the back door of No5 and catch up without the hassle of mere mortals like myself trying to get a picture or take a lock of hair!

My idea of a good night these days is staying in with a Werthers Original and a good book! I am only 24 but partying for free can take it toll sometimes. The hardest part of my job for me is always maintaining an image, I am the life and soul of a party and sometimes after a really heavy night I find it hard to appear to be interested in everything and “host” but no job is perfect, although I'm not complaining.

This is the only time when it actually feels like a job however, most of the time I sit back and realise that being on

I was having a good chat with Tinchy Styder who was in rehearsals despite this being part 2 of a 3 day marathon birthday session! Mr Hudson also made an appearance with his good friend Ra- dio 1 DJ Max who looked amazing.

It is one to watch, you don’t really see many high profile guests attend nights on the weekend and now that I have ex- posed this night, maybe that will change, I will keep you all updated for sure.....!

velvet pr.com A-Z Of Rave D

This is not a tribute to the admittedly genius Guitar Hero spin- off. This is for the real DJ’s. Those heroes who produce and spin the rhythm-romping, foot-stomping, face-chomping chooooons.

So who are these mystical creatures? Rarely spotted during daylight, at night they reign high in elevated booths, holding thousands-strong crowds captive with their musical witchcraft. Surely Maxi Jazz was spot on. God really must be a DJ.

Of course, the reality is a little less awe-inspiring. DJ’s walk

amongst us as ordinary mortals. Shopping at Tescos, braving the tube, and for many (shock, horror), even holding down a day-job! This is no joke. Until fairly recently, you’d have found Calvin Harris covertly stacking the shelves of Dumfries’ Marks & Spencer when he wasn’t either gigging or in the studio. Not so god-like now, eh?

Remove a DJ’s decks and you’ll find that most are in fact disappointingly average – often geeky and a tad socially awkward even. You don’t become a great DJ without putting in some seriously obsessive man- hours holed up in your bedroom, twiddling nobs (pun intended).

But when the tunes sound so ridiculously good, who really cares? It doesn’t actually matter if a DJ’s chat stinks or if their extra cash comes from unpacking over- priced food. In fact, it´s far better when they keep egos caged and just get on with it.
