The Vaselines – Sex With an X
THE STATION SESSIONS
A Platform for New Music Live from St Pancras International
The Station Sessions: A Platform for New Music, are a unique series of free performances from some of the UK’s best up-and-coming musicians taking place in the middle of St Pancras Inter- national between 6pm and 7pm every Thursday.
A first for a UK train station, the Station Sessions have recognised the difficult environment up-and-coming artists face. With so many bands out there, it
can be difficult for a new artist to have their music heard above the mass of potential wannabes. With performanc- es from MOBO nominated Natalie Wil- liams, Basement Jaxx’s Vula and Ed Sheeran as well as, Patch Williams, Lulu and the Lampshades and Marcus Bonfanti the Station Sessions are fast becoming the place to see the best in new music.
Having only made one album twenty years ago, The Vaselines have reformed. Despite being a lot older, the original kitsch humour is still there. The title-track, has a hook that get’s en- graved in your cortex but don’t be fooled into thinking this is pure nostalgia though. ‘I Hate the 80’s’ looks back with a sneer at the decade that got their ball rolling, re-iterating that “it wasn’t all Duran Duran Duran Duran”.

Weezer – Hurley
It’s been almost fifteen years since Rivers Cuomo wrote Pinkerton, often called a perfect release. So, what’s new since last year’s Raditude? Not much other than an abundance of squealing synth and less cameos from incarcerated rappers. If you still follow Weezer’s every move a then Hurley, with it’s characteristically bizarre cover art is likely to suit you perfectly fine. For everyone else, best keep a look out for those nostalgic first two albums.
Röyksopp – Senior
In comparison to ‘Junior,’ ‘Senior’ could be deemed its darker, more mature elder brother. The cover art is about as dark as it can get without being black, but on offer is the plaintive, the scenic and the ambient – all of which can be found in the brilliantly cold single ‘The Drug’. To reach that optimum detached loneliness the duo have done away with the familiar guest vocals meaning that the record can lean towards easy listening, but when it works it works extremely well.
