“Me And The Devil” Gil Scott-Heron
ful musical flourishes and lashings of feel good funk bass. But it’s the sumptuous Leo Zero remix that really shows why Everything Everything are such an awe- inspiring band. The dream like rush you get from half way when the vocal dances with the skippy beat and that heaven-sent bass that funks you happy in all the right places. It’s the sort of daredevil approach we can expect of a band that could be about to explode.
“VCR” The XX
The legendary and everlasting Gil Scott- Herron returns to the musical arena with an wondrous album full of eclecticism, poetry, reflections and hope. Surely des- tined to be one of the albums of the year. My words can-not describe fully what lies within but I urge you all to buy it, borrow it, spotify it and marvel. Firstly check the official video on Youtube to my chosen cut “Me and The Devil” you’ll be glad you did and you can thank us later.
“Schoolin” Everything Everything
In glorious anticipation of their debut al- bum “Man Alive” released (Aug 30th) “Schoolin” has been positively warm- ing the airwaves with its Jutting rhythms, scatter gun falsettos, some rather delight-
Emotive, inspiring and free The XX are a rare band whose music has a simple sense of new space. This girl/boy sung song is about having a best friend that you can always talk to about anything. You don’t need anyone else in the world “cause you’ve got tea and a VCR” and the one person in the world you trust by your side. Surely the Mercury Music Prize beckons? Brilliant!
“Klara”
Ólöf Arnalds Ólöf Arnalds is an Icelandic folk singer whose solo debut album Við og við, eh!? (“As They Say”), was released in 2007. Ever since the accolades have flooded in, her voice has been called “otherworldly” by The NY Times, “stunning” by SPIN, “bewitching” by Rolling Stone, “remark- able” by the NME, “ethereal” by Vanity Fair AND she sings all of her songs in her native Icelandic tongue. And yep! as she sure has a voice of an angel.
“La Di Da” Sydney Wayser
LA born French singer-song- writer, Sydney Wayser is a multi- instrumentalist; guitars, Banjos, piano, glockenspiel and toys. She makes experimental folk mu- sic, she has a voice that sounds so shower fresh so clean so very rich and present. Her lyrics are clever and redeemable she’s mega talented. All these qualities she has put to unfeasiably good use on “Colourful” her current al- bum. “La Di Da” is a playful song that was apparently inspired by the 1977 movie Annie Hall and it’s such a breathtakingly brilliant song which plays like bright new dawn of a brand new day.
Samson Hill ESTEREOTYPO
Who would have thought it?! An Indie- Rock band from Spain, i mean...I thought it was all flamenco dancers and freshly groomed hunks! However, Estereotypo definately diminishes all stereotypes with their electronic vibes and superlicious attitude!
Hi Guys, Tell us about Estereotypo Estereotypo is a fresh new spanish band formed by three guys who got together to develop a killer combination of electronic and rock music with the aim of turning each one of our live shows into an actual party. After more than a hundred gigs all over Spain, two albums, and the buzz cre- ated by thousands of followers online and offline, it seems that it works :)
Scored in Spain your second album “Love your city” (Astro Música, 2010) and you are playing main Clubs and Festivals in Spain this year, When are you planning to release and Tour in the UK? Hopefully, if everything’s ok, we will be touring in the UK after the summer, prob- ably in October. On the other side, things are still not so clear about the release, since this issue is still in an early stage. Anyway we hope it won’t take longer than this year or the begginning of the next.
We don’t how a lot about Indie Rock Scene in Spain, but We know you have some of the most important Festivals in Europe and the best audience, (Festival de Benicassim, Low Cost Festival, Sonorama, So-
nar, Primavera Sound, etc..), When do you think Spanish indie bands are going to lead the European Indie Scene also?
Unfortunatelly, this is going to take a long long time :) From here, we think the span- ish independent scene is still far from that in the UK, but we also see that, little by little, the European scene is begginning to make room for some Spanish bands, as it did with Belgian, French, German or Swedish artists for the last years.
Which are you future plans of the band?
In fact, the same as ever: Let people know about our music by playing live wherever we can and by promoting it through Inter- net and all the media we can reach, and keep growing as artists.
How we can find or buy your music from the UK?
As far as we know, right now you can find it only in digital format at iTunes. And of course you can also listen to our songs or buy our CDs on-line, in our webpage
www.estereotypo.com, or our label’
swww.astromusica.com.
