THE GUESTLIST NETWORK | JULY 2010
60 Seconds with Princess Nyah
Princess Nyah, one of the hottest UK female acts out there at the moment, took time out from her busy schedule to have a word with The Guestlist Network, and here’s how the ‘Frontline’ artist is settling in to her Princess lifestyle.
TGN: You are known for your funky house party bangers, how do you do it over and over again? PN: I am persistent plus I like the music myself and I go out a lot and I know what the consumer wants because I am a consumer myself, it’s like I’m pleasing myself by making the music that I like, so the theory is if I like then a lot of other people would like it. Makes sense?
I can imagine you must be in the club every weekend performing on stage. Do you ever get tired and want a weekend off? I hardly ever have anytime off and I enjoy performing so I really don’t mind.
Can you tell me what your new single “Butterflies” is about? Butterflies relates to females more than the guys, is about having a friend that you like and not having courage to tell him that you like him and he makes you feel funny every time he is around.
How did the collaboration with Ghetts and Griminal on ‘Hooligans’ happened? I bumped into Ghetts while I was out on Christmas eve and the record came on so Ghetts approached me and says he want to jump on the record and then Griminal heard that and he wanted an 8 bar so that’s how that happened
What else have you got in store for 2010? I’ve got Brand new music coming out so just look out and may be an album but nothing set in stone at the moment.
Are there any artists in particular that you think are hot in the music scene at the moment? I think Professor Green is doing well at the moment; also chipmunk and Tinchy Strider are doing amazing. I would just like to see some of the female step up to play (baby blu, Miss
Bratz...etc)
Have you had any major record labels taking an interest in you? I am good being independent; I am not talking to any labels at the moment. make and distribute my own music.
I
What is the best thing you got for free? When a fan made me a massive picture of myself and brought it to me when I performed at big fish.
As you know we love to party at the GuestList, Where would you recommend for a wicked night out in London? Vendome and Merra is always good so probably Merra.
What advice would you give to a male fan of yours that wanted to impress you? Tell him to listen to a Drake track called Brand New.
