HENRY EDWARD MULLOY (Age 92) On Saturday, July 3, 2010, Henry E. Mulloy of Potomac Falls, VA, died peacefully at home among family. Beloved husband of the late Agnes E. Mulloy, he is survived by four children, Michael, Susan, Teresa, and Stephen; as well as 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.


The eldest child of Joseph and Loretta Mulloy, he was born on July 23, 1917 in Green Bay, WI. During WWII, Mr. Mulloy was a member of the Flying Tigers, serving as an airbase commander in Kunming, China. He earned his BA and MA degrees in Public Administration from the Univer- sity of Missouri, followed by PhD course- work at UCLA. In 1951, he began a long career with the federal government, moving his family to the Washington, DC area. Mr. Mulloy served tours in Japan, Bolivia and Vietnam. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and a member of the Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston.


Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 46639 Algonkian Pkwy., Potomac Falls, on Friday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. Interment private. Born and raised in New York City, Bella graduated from Hunter College, majoring in biology. During World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work as a secretary in the Bureau of the Budget. She married Sam, a career federal civil servant, who would become a professional staff economist with the House Committee on Interstate and For- eign Commerce.They raised their family in Mt. Rainier, Maryland, and later in Bethes- da, Maryland. Bella enjoyed interior dec- orating and landscaping. She surrounded her Bethesda home, situated on a wooded lot, with azalea gardens. Artistically tal- ented, she created beautiful works of knitting, needlepoint, sculpture, pottery, decoupage, and drawing, which her family treasures.As a spectator, she loved opera, dance, figure skating, and tennis — espe- cially women's tennis, because she delighted in long rallies. Was born July 2, 1945 in North Carolina. She suddenly passed peacefully at her home in Bowie, Maryland on July 1, 2010. Mattie was Founder of Learn and Play Center with over 40 years as a childhood educator. In 1979, he retired after 37 years of Federal Service, most of which was spent most at the U.S. Agency for International Development. Following his retirement, he devoted his time to traveling the world with his wife and friends and playing golf. Although he enjoyed the leisure of retirement, he dedicated countless hours to his passion of supporting the causes of organizations such as the Japanese American Citizens League, National Japanese American Memorial Foundation, The Go For Broke National Veterans Association, Japanese American Veterans Association, National Japanese American Veterans Council, and the Agency for International Development Alumni Association.


JOSEPH ICHIUJI "Joe"


On July 3, 2010, Joseph “Joe” Ichiuji passed away peacefully at his home. Beloved husband of 62 years to Asako “Susie” Ichiuji; loving father of Karen Ichiuji Ramone and Douglas Ichiuji; proud grandfather of Stacy Ichiuji Pillersdorf, Julie Ichiuji, BJ Ramone, and Alexander Ichiuji. He is also survived by sister, Kazume Ichiuji Oishi; brothers, Jimmy, Paul and Harry Ichiuji; numerous nieces and nephews.


Joe was born on February, 14, 1919, in Salinas, California. He attended Pacific Grove High School


One of Joe’s proudest achievements was serving in the U.S. Army as a field artillery specialist in the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. This unit was the most decorated regiment in U.S. military history.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Geneva Presbyterian Church, 11931 Seven Locks Road, Potomac, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribu- tions can be made to the Japanese American Veterans Association (JAVA) Joseph Ichiuji Scholar- ship Fund and sent to Earl Takeguchi, 7201 White House Dr, Springfield, VA 22153.

ARMAJO SMITH NORTHUP (Age 84)


Passed away on July 1, 2010 in Rockville, Maryland. She was born on May 5, 1926 in Morgantown,WV. She grew up inWashington, D.C. beginning in 1934 and lived in Bethesda, Maryland since 1950. She attended Western Senior High School (DC) and graduated from George Washington University with a degree in languages in 1947. She was selected as Field Secretary for Kappa Kappa Gamma. Over a two-year period she visited thirty colleges and universities across the country and helped colonize new chapters. Her Federal career included positions with the Hoover Commis- sion and the Library of Congress as a personnel specialist. She is survived by two sons, Clifford R. Northup (Sandy) of Arlington, VA and James G. Northup (Phyllis) of Munising, MI and four grandchildren, Kimberly, Brian, Erin and Amy. A memorial service will be held at the George- town Presbyterian Church, 3115 P Street, N.W. on July 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to Georgetown Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.
