HXR-NX5U NXCAM AVCHD Camcorder
The HXR-NX5U incorporates AVCHD technology, three Sony Exmor CMOS sensors with ClearVid array, and state-of-the-art 20x G Lens, to deliver full high-definition resolution and low light sensitivity with low noise. The camcorder will record AVCHD up to 24Mbps, delivering 1920x1080 HD images with both interlace and progressive modes along with native 1080/24p, 720/60p and MPEG-2 standard definition recording. It includes both HD-SDI and HDMI outputs, as well as two-channel linear PCM audio capabilities. It features SMPTE Time Code I/O, built-in GPS function, and an upgrade option for 60i/50i switchable. Utilizing the revolutionary AVCHD format, the HXR-NX5U offers long recording time with dual memory slots - on affordable memory cards. In addition to facilitating a totally IT-based workflow, simultaneous hybrid recording is available in HD/SD formats, using the optional HXR-FMU128 flash memory unit.

• AVCHD recording format utilizes the MPEG-4, AVC/H.264 video codec, allowing users to record HD video footage onto random access media. Its intelligent and sophisticated algorithm makes AVCHD a highly efficient compression format ideal for memory recording and IT-based editing. (SD format recording is available in addition to HD format recording).
• Record Full 1920 x 1080 HD video as well as 720/60p, 60i, 30p and 24p. Can also record at a choice of bit rates (24/17/9 or 5 Mbps), as well as selectable audio recording — either Dolby Digital stereo or LPCM (Linear PCM) stereo which provides uncompressed audio quality.
• Three 1/3" Exmor™ CMOS Sensors improve the color reproduction of video recordings and capture sharp, detailed images even in low-light environments with sensitivity of 1.5 lux.
• 20x zoom "G Lens" zoom provides a 29.5-590mm focal length (35mm equivalent). Two ED glass elements reduce chromatic aberrations. Also includes a compound aspheric lens for images that are crisp and clear, even when shooting videos at a high zooming ratio.
• Active SteadyShot offers additional stabilization by increasing the optical lens coverage area and by improving detection with state-of-the-art compensation.
• 3.2” (16:9) Xtra Fine LCD screen with 921,000 pixels and 0.45” Xtra Fine electronic viewfinder with 1,227,000 pixels for high-resolution and high-contrast images with remarkable color reproduction.
• Has three built-in neutral density filters, plus manual settings for iris, gain, white balance, shutter speed and focus for increased creativity and control.
• Manual zoom, focus and iris for even more flexibility. Offers the same operability as interchangeable lenses.
• Completely new menu interface designed specifically for the HXR-NX5U allows users to adjust camcorder functions via a touch panel or buttons and switches.
• Assign often used features to shortcut buttons so they can be accessed quickly without going through a menu.
• Equipped with two memory slots for recording to Memory Stick PRO Duo media and SD/SDHC cards, with the HXR-NX5U automatically cycling between the two of them. Using two 32GB memory cards, six hours of continuous HD footage can be recorded.
• Built-in global positioning system (GPS) locator allows satellite navigation data to be recorded directly onto footage for reference. GPS data can be invaluable when searching for footage or to provide evi- dence of where and when footage was recorded. Bundled Content Management Utility software lets you create mapping data and to extract GPS data from video files in lattitude/longitude NMEA format.
• Hardware switch for headphone monitoring allows users to change the output to CH-1 or CH-2, or mix both channels togegher. No need to go into the menu to change the headphone output.
• Connections include HD-SDI output, HDMI output, component output with AV/R-out, USB and RCA composite video and audio output. There is also a remote terminal and a TC Link that allows the timecode of two camcorders to be synchronized when they are connected.
