LAW AND ORDER 4 Review

Categorize by Parts of Speech

OBJECTIVE C demonstrate knowledge of unit vocabulary words by classifying them according to their parts of speech.

GUIDE STUDENTS

Point out that students will use all the vocabulary words in this sorting activity. Some words can be classified as more than one part of speech. The answers provided show the classifica- tion according to the meanings and uses taught in this unit; however, bear in mind that surveillance and constituent can be adjectives, while extenuating can be a form of a verb.

PRACTICE

Have students complete this activity independently or in pairs. When they have finished, review the answers as a class.

Word Wisdom CD-ROM For reinforcement, reteaching,

and enrichment, use the Word Wisdom CD-ROM. First, select the vocabulary words and definitions that are appropriate for each stu- dent’s needs. Print out the word cards for students to use on their own or in small-group activities. Install the Word Wisdom CD-ROM for more information and ideas.
