Word Journal Dictionary Challenge
Encourage students to choose a word from the Word List on page 132 to look up in the diction- ary. Tell them to write the following items in alphabetical order in their Word Journals: the vocabulary word, the guide words that appear on the dictionary page on which the vocabulary word appears, and three other words from that page that are new to them. Tell students to record each word along with its part of speech, its phonetic respelling, a definition, and a sentence that uses the word. Challenge them to incorporate each of the six words into their conversations with friends and family over the next few days.
