OBJECTIVE Students will C practice using this unit’s context clues strategy to learn the mean- ings of incorporate and deduce.
GUIDE STUDENTS First, introduce the two vocabulary words incorporate and deduce, which come from the article about solving word problems on page 116. Have students pronounce the words and share any prior knowledge they have of each word. Next, have students review the Read, Look, Think, Predict, and Check steps on page 117.
PRACTICE
Have students complete page 118 on their own. When they have finished, discuss the ways that students’ prior knowledge helped them understand the words more clearly.
