paper/mail balloting is more cost effective. The election timeline is being compressed, as we found a 60-day voting window is too long. We have reduced it to 30 days, from April 1 – April 30. The rest of the timeline is the same. All ballots must be received by May 10, and the results will appear in the July issue of the ON vs. the August issue; results will be published in time for the rally when the new terms begin.
Volunteers – Stan Herman Volunteer committee consists of Muriel, Marsha, Greg, and Wes, with Chuck and Bob serving as ad hoc members. For the past fourteen months the committee has been working on a new concept of Regional Coordinators. This will be a com- pletely new program which we hope will result in better communications up and down with leadership, deal- ers, and chartered clubs, and produce more events. This is a bigger job than one person can do; many of these ideas resulted from conversation with previous Chartered Club Coordina- tors, Bud Meade and Paul Mulhern. Our MOA Weekends have been
very successful in attracting new members. We now have our first eleven regional coordinators in place. We advertised for volunteers in the ON, we received many completed questionnaires from potential candi- dates, and they were interviewed by members of the committee by confer- ence call. Ken Decroo from riverside, California, Lee Schumacher of Aspen, Colorado, and Gordon Olson from Sacramento, California, are present in the room. We know that 50 percent of char-
tered club members are not members of the MOA, 50 percent of MOA members are not members of char- tered clubs, and 50 percent of BMW riders not in any club. This is fertile

ground for new members of all clubs. The Volunteer Committee works with
the Consumer Liaison, Key Volunteers, Ambassador Liaison, Regional Coordina- tors (previously the Chartered Club Liai- son), our High Mileage and Mileage Coordinators, and Volunteer recognition. Our hope is to invigorate the volunteer spirit
Events – Vance Harrelson The Events Committee works on the Ral- lies, and Weekend Events, (regional, smaller, hotel-based weekends). Our goal is to get local chapters/individuals to run those events. Last year we had four regional events plus the rally. This year we have six regional events plus the rally We sent out a survey that Greg put
together to our members with email asking about events and what you would like to see. We got a phenomenal response. After the rally, the committee will glean informa- tion from that survey. We will work with the regional coordinator program to take the next steps to implement what we learn. We’ve had great advertising in the ON,
and Ken’s got us some good sponsors. We encourage you to attend the regional events and would love you to coordinate one.
2015 Rally Update – Sue Rihn As of last night (Thursday) we had 4,800 paid attendees (some may not yet have arrived). We budgeted for 4,600 and are happy with the turnout. Things are going smoothly. We discontinued the shower trailers. Last year we had 38 shower heads with the trailers.
MOA Foundation Report – George Rice Ted Moyer gave the report for George. We had a successful Camp GEARs after much strife. We had a replacement coordinator who was not able to do it, so Peter Perrin filled in with little notice, ably assisted by other MOAF Board Members. We had fif- teen attendees, with a maximum of eigh- teen. Those fifteen members were trained at no cost. The GEAR Store sold raffle tickets for
the one-of-a-kind R nineT for the Founda- tion at $25 ticket, or 5 for $100. The winner will be announced on October 17 at the AIM Expo in Orlando.

Denny Pink: How are Rally Regions set? Chuck: We went from seven to four
regions, generally following time zones. We rotate as follows: 1 is the Pacific zone, 3 is the central zone, 2 is the mountain zone, followed by 4 in the eastern zone.

showers without the trailers spread around the ground. BMW is here for the demo rides. Be sure to give them a big thanks.
Chuck: We’re all volunteers running the rally with 60-some committees. Sue has vol- unteered to chair Midland, Lima, West Bend, and now the Billings rallies. Thanks to you, this is a great rally.
For Ted: Can we get dealer info for mem- bership? Ted said this is not so effective; with Ken’s initiative, we are able to offer a new membership with every new bike through BMW. Ted hopes the regional coordinator program will add to that.
