informal talks about off road riding (with demonstrations), how to pack a motorcycle, how to get across banana republic borders, paperwork, plan- ning, and equipping a bike, and fea- tured lots of travel tales with pictures and videos. Some riders had been around the world several times. Oth- ers had traveled several countries or continents. Many came to Appomat- tox to find out if they could just con- quer their fears and go somewhere for the experience. Much was learned and many new friends made over dining room meals. Dozens of brands and models of motorcycles crowded the parking area. This wasn’t about brand loyalty or chauvinism. This was about riding a bike you probably already have to places you’ve never been. Yes, the majority of riders there were on our brand, BMW. Many of those were on models as old as the oldest BMW GS ever built. But be aware, Horizons Unlimited is not about the bike you ride. where you want to go, where you have been, and developing the courage and positive attitude to celebrate the world. Appomattox is just one of dozens of
Horizons Unlimited traveler meetings throughout the world, every year. This year, there will be several in the USA and Can- ada, alone. The Horizons Unlimited web- site is a mountain of information, travelers’ tales, videos, photos, life stories, and travel tips. It’s designed to unselfishly share the secrets and solve the mysteries of world- wide travel on motorcycles. There’s no charge to join, no certificates for your wall, and the HU meetings are inexpensive to attend. Horizons Unlimited has no agenda to replace clubs like MOA. Instead, the
organizers show you one more huge and joyous part of motorcycling you may have missed. Visit http://www.horizonsunlim-
