ABOUT THE THEME YOU ARE HERE
Yes, I check in. Not often, but frequently. I willingly let my whereabouts be known for the Facebook universe to peer in. You might ask why—as does my wife; good question. In most cases it’s for my family back in Ohio, so they can enjoy my journeys. In other situations, I check in because of where I am, the beauty of the location, even the significance of the moment.
In this edition of the Jessup Magazine we are willingly checking in with a theme entitled: “You Are Here.” It is a theme that talks about Jessup as a (physical) place, a place in God’s sovereign time, and a place of purpose and calling. In these “places,” here is who we are—in God’s call, by God’s grace and for the glory of God’s name alone.
We read in the Old Testament that Esther sovereignly “checked in” via God’s call and God’s purpose; “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (emphasis mine; Esther 14:4)
As we “check in” and give God glory for our call in the here and now, we pray that in reading this edition, “You Are Here,” (with us) in mission, in prayer and in support, all for the glory of God’s great name unto the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“You Are Here” This Issue’s custom-illustrated cover by in-house artist Aaron Robbins, celebrates WJU “Staying Christ-Centered, in the Center of it All.” The theme “You Are Here” covers three angles: 1. Location location location. Through area opportunities and relationships, the University’s heart-of-NorCal geography makes Jessup an “education destination.” 2. With longstanding buildouts now completed, WJU is “here” with a new residence Hall, new bio and chem labs and added programs. 3. Most of all, the theme honors the #1 response when asked “Why Jessup?” Crediting the Spirit on campus and uniquely relational environment, students, staff and visitors alike say, “It’s just different when ‘you are here.’”
