JESSUP DONOR DEVELOPMENT
ENDOWMENT FUND
VETERANS by David Pineschi
Veterans hold a special place in the heart of Jessup. Tis generation of veterans have been faced with unimaginable realities. Tese brave men and women risked it all and some literally gave it all to serve and protect our country. Although there is not much we can do or say to thank them appropriately, we can stand up as they did and serve them as they served us.
As a Financial Aid Director I worked with veterans education benefits and sadly, many of these veterans’ educational costs were not fully covered. Te transition to civilian and family life can be quite difficult as they juggle supporting their families financially, emotionally and spiritually. At Jessup, we see the need and desire to bridge the financial gap enabling veteran students to be debt-free upon graduation.
In November of 2014, WJU formed the VET Fund committee of 13 men and women, veterans, gold star family members and civilians with the goal to serve our veterans. Our co-chairs of the VET Fund committee have been instrumental in our success thus far. Jim Sullivan (not pictured) is the elected chairperson of the Non Commissioned Officers Association for the Central Valley Chapter #1551. He is a retired Chief Master Sergeant from the USAF who has dedicated his time to serve veterans.
Tus far the VET Fund committee has raised almost $10,000 in just a few short months because of the efforts of Patty Schumacher, Rick Sutter, Ken Gleason, Bill Lawver, Bob Patterson, David Sirsi, Nick Maloof, Quinn Pence and Maxwell Ramsey.
Will you serve our veterans who served us? Trough God’s leading please consider a generous gift to the Veteran’s Endowment Fund to ensure veterans, veterans immediate family members and gold star families receive Christ-Centered higher education debt-free. Generous gifts will help transform their families and those they serve in the marketplace and ministry.
