The dispute had been before the STB, which was about to rule on it; NWP will now drop its petition.


Jaype Line Sold


Bountiful Grain & Craig Mountain Railroad, a subsidiary of MidWest Pacific Rail Net & Logistics, has filed to


acquire and operate 27.5 miles of track- age from the Great Northwest Railroad operated by Watco. The line extends from milepost 3.5 at Konkolville, Idaho, to the end of track at mile 31 at Jaype. Made up of the former Camas Prairie Railroad, GRNW interchanges with BG&CM at Lewiston, Idaho.


New Mexico Central


As mentioned last month, New Mexico Central Railroad (NMCR) has filed to acquire the 116-mile Whitewater Division (also known as the Whitewater Branch) from Southwestern Railroad. New Mexico Central is controlled by West Branch Intermediate Holdings, LLC, and managed by Continental Rail Holdings. Continental Rail currently controls one other shortline, the 36-mile


Delta Southern and plans on acquiring other shortlines with growth potential. The lines New Mexico Central is acquir- ing extend from Deming to Peruhill, Peruhill to Whitewater, Whitewater to the Tyrone Industrial Spur at Burro Mountain Spur, Whitewater to Santa Rita, and Hanover Junction to the Fierro Industrial spur at the Sharon Steel Plant. New Mexico Central will also acquire Southwestern’s lease from BNSF of the line between Deming and Rincon.

The Columbia Basin Railroad interchanges with BNSF six days a week, switching its outbound loads and empties then returning to its yard in Warden. Founded in 1986, CBRW operates more than 200 miles of former Burlington Northern track connecting Othello, Warden, Schrag, and Moses Lake.

Plow Train Two-Fer Pan Am Railway


Substantial snowfall in early February required Pan Am Railways to bring out two Russell snowplows to clear its route through the Berkshire Mountains. MEC SD40M-2 619 and GP40-2W 515 push Boston & Maine plows 3742 and 2743 over the Connecticut River at the east end of the yard at East Deerfield, Mass., on February 14. Neighboring lines Vermont Rail System and Batten Kill Railroad also ran plow extras on the same day, causing a dilemma for some local railfans!
