THE COOPERATIVE DIFFERENCE IS YOU MANAGEMENT REPORT

BY JON K. MILES cHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

eptember 26, 2015 will be recorded as Choctaw Electric’s celebration of 75 years of serving members. While the advent of electricity in the remote reaches of southeast Oklahoma sparked remarkable changes, the votes cast at the Choctaw Electric Cooperative (CEC) Annual Meeting this year will also go down in history as the date CEC member-owners spoke out concerning the direction and leadership of their cooperative.

S

One thing is certain: Choctaw Electric continues to head in the right direction. The board of trustees and management pledge to continue to work toward restoring member trust in their cooperative, and reasserting the core values our members expect such as safe, affordable and reliable electric service for the future.

This issue of Inside Your Co-op contains photos and articles covering many of the high points of CEC’s historic annual meeting including the bylaw amendments and trustee elections. Regardless of your

stand on the issues or individuals voted on during these elections, I encourage you to read these stories and join us in honoring the power of cooperative democratic principles in action.

The cooperative business model worked like it should, bringing members together despite different points of view and working toward a common goal. The ability to do so with respect for the other person’s opinion, regardless of the outcome, is no small feat. Yet CEC members did it, and we will continue to do it because that’s what cooperative membership is all about.

On behalf of the board of trustees and management of Choctaw Electric Cooperative, I want to thank you for supporting your cooperative on September 26. By attending your annual meeting, voting in co-op elections and staying up-to-date on the issues, you are doing your part to ensure CEC remains focused on what’s best for its membership. You put the Cooperative Difference in action!
