“Grant conducts his life in a manner that will allow him to a ain the goals and dreams he has for himself,” commented Pryor High School Counselor Phyllis Hess. “He only chooses to do the right thing and is an excellent role model for his peers. The respect he has for his family, this school and community is obvious as he exhibits all the quali es of someone who is selfl ess and puts others fi rst. Whatever commitment he makes, you know he will follow through and he is dependable, organized and capable of bringing out the best in others. He has a way of inspiring others as he works to promote a common purpose, involvement and achievement by all.”

Andy Pilant, Student and Worship Pastor at Pleasant View Bap st Church, added: “Grant is a passionate, dependable leader in our youth group. Over the past four years, Grant has displayed growth in his rela onship with other students and in his spiritual walk with God. He shows maturity and strength in the decisions he makes and has proven himself trustworthy and capable. He displays a strong, moral convic on and naturally leads others to follow him in that type of lifestyle. He has a posi ve a tude that’s contagious to those around him.”

Family friend Ann Carver vouched for Triece’s persistence despite these challenges.

“Sky has had a diffi cult  me the past few years,” she said. “Although he has had many obstacles to overcome, Sky con nues to be a very outgoing and enthusias c person who has had a posi ve impact on his school and community. Sky Triece

Welch High School’s Sky Triece accepted the 2017 REC College Scholarship for the Craig/Rogers County area. Triece has his sights set on Oklahoma State University, where he intends to pursue a degree in Psychology.

Triece served as both representa ve and reporter on the Welch High School student council, where he was a four-year member, and as treasurer for the Na onal Honor Society, where he was a two-year member and organized the 2017 Red Cross Blood Drive. Also highligh ng a lengthy list of high school achievements for Triece was his par cipa on in FCCLA (2 years) and archery (2 years). He was a member of the Quiz Bowl team and yearbook staff , and editor of the school newsle er. Addi onally, Triece was a mul -year recipient of the “school spirit” award.

Triece achieved despite many personal challenges, including the death of his mother in 2016 (he was his mother’s caregiver un l her passing) and the deteriora ng health of his father,

Triece has taken measures to con nue his educa on with concurrent studies at Rogers State University. He has completed 12 credits to-date.

Community involvement is also a priority for Triece. He enriched his high school experience with many hours of volunteer service, including assis ng the kindergarten class with its “100 Days of School” program, which Sky explained consists of “going to their class, si ng with them, and helping them read or do other daily ac vi es.”

While balancing his educa on and part- me employment, Triece also volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salva on Army during the Christmas holiday, assisted with the book fair at school, and volunteered at a nursing facility.

“Sky is a hard worker and a dependable, intelligent person. He strives to complete his tasks and will do what he is asked to do. Sky represents our school well and will do the same for his future school,” remarked Trisha Perkins, English instructor at Welch High School. Con nued on page 12
