Approximately 100 members and guests attended the 79th Harmon Electric Association Annual Meeting on Friday, April 7th. Harmon Electric holds the annual meeting on the fi rst Friday in April each year.


Members & guests took advantage of a Health Fair sponsored by Harmon Electric. Members were able to get their blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure checked by employees of Jackson County Memorial Hospital.


The Child ID Program was also conducted during the Annual Meeting. This is the twenty-fi fth consecutive year that HEA, along with the Hollis Police Department and the Harmon County Sheriff Department have given parents an opportunity to obtain a permanent record of their child’s fi ngerprints.


Harmon Electric provided a “burger bag” lunch to attending members and guests.


The lunch was prepared and served by Harmon Electric employees.


The welcome and opening remarks


were given by Burk Bullington, President of the Board of Trustees. Charles Paxton, General Manager, introduced the guests, board members, and employees. Mr. Paxton then brought the membership up to date on the current issues facing HEA.


Chris Meyers, General Manager of the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives, spoke to the members on the EPA ruling and the hope for a positive result from President Trump’s Clean Power Plan Executive Order. 263400


Gary Roulet, CEO/General Manager of Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, spoke on solar energy.


WFEC is hopeful that this


energy supply option proves to be a viable power source for many years. Diversity of electric generation resources and technology continues to be vital to long-term, low-cost electric energy.


The business session was held next. Due to a quorum not being present, there was not an election held in Districts 1 or 5. Pete Lassiter, District 1, and Burk Bullington, District 5, ran unopposed and will serve a three year term.


At the close of the Annual Meeting a 50” fl at screen TV was given away as the Grand Prize and was won by Garland Jones.
