ortheast Oklahoma Electric Coopera ve (NEOEC) is pleased to con nue its youth programs in 2017. NEOEC hosts two essay con- tests for area students to a end Energy Camp or Youth Tour, and an opportunity for high school seniors to be awarded scholar- ship dollars.
Energy Camp is for students who are currently enrolled in the eighth grade in one of the schools included in the coopera ve’s service area. The camp is a fun-fi lled me at Canyon Camp near Red Rock Canyon in Hinton, Oklahoma. Students will have the opportunity to run a mock u lity company fi rst-hand, climb a pole, watch a co-op crew at work, and tour one of the largest genera ng facili es in Oklahoma.
Youth Tour is open to students who currently a end one of the area schools and are enrolled in the eleventh grade. The coopera ve is pleased to sponsor this all-expense-paid, educa onal trip to Washington, D.C., for excep onal students from northeast Oklahoma.
Each year, the coopera ve awards scholarship money to four students from across its service area. One student from each county— Craig/Rogers, Delaware, Mayes and O awa—is selected to receive $1,000 in assistance.

• Four winners will be selected. • Open to high school juniors a ending school within the Northeast Oklahoma Electric Coopera- ve service area. Coopera ve membership is not a requirement.
• Typed essay must be 500 words or more, dou- ble-spaced, on the topic:
“The future of electricity”
• Completed essay must be accompanied by entry form and be mailed or delivered by the contest deadline of Friday, March 10, 2017.

College Scholarship Application Deadline: March 17, 2017
Eligibility requirements To be eligible to receive NEOEC’s college scholarship, a student must:
• Be a senior in one of the high schools in NEOEC’s service area, • Reside in a household served by NEOEC, and • Be in the top 1/3 of his/her gradua ng class.
Guidelines • A total of four scholarships will be awarded. Each scholarship will be in
the amount of $1,000 and will be non-renewable. One scholarship will be awarded to a qualifying student in each of the four coun es—Craig/ Rogers, Delaware, Mayes and O awa—in which NEOEC serves electric power.
• The scholarship must be used at an accredited college or university. The scholarship funds will be issued directly to the college or university a ended by the student.
• The winner must become a full- me college student. • The winners will be asked to provide a social security number when the scholarship is sent to the college of their choice.
• The NEOEC board of trustees will act as the scholarship selec on commit- tee. Items for considera on will be: academic ability, school and commu- nity involvement, le ers of recommenda on, and fi nancial need. • The decision of the board will be fi nal.
Instructions for Scholarship Application • A copy of your current high school transcript must be a ached to your completed applica on.
• Two le ers of recommenda on—one from a school source (teacher, counselor, principal, etc.) and one from an outside, non-rela ve, source (youth pastor, family friend, etc.)—must be included.
• If available, a copy of a le er of acceptance from the college you plan to a end, should be submi ed.
