Spring Cleaning For Your Co-op Right of Way Kiamichi Electric remains vigilant about right of way maintenance—for good reasons.
dispatching crews to certain areas to trim trees and spray brush.
K Safety
A properly maintained right of way keeps Kiamichi Electric crews safe as they restore and repair the co-op system. Keeping trees clear of power lines also protects members as they work and play in their yards.
Whether in a busy residential area or the isolated back country, a clean right of way helps prevent tragedy, and it's why Kiamichi Electric asks you to avoid planting trees or tall vegetation under power lines.
Reliability
During a severe storm, a well- maintained right of way can result in fewer outages and faster response times. When trees are less of an obstacle, your cooperative repair crews are able to restore service more quickly. Areas that are thick with brush or fallen tree limbs are extremely difficult—and often dangerous— for co-op crews to access.
Cost
Kiamichi Electric strives to keep costs as affordable as possible for its members. Maintaining the right of way is an important part of controlling costs. Fewer and shorter outages save money for everyone. When crews work in well- maintained areas, Kiamichi Electric is able to reduce risks for employees and protect its equipment— another way to keep costs low.
When it comes to maintaining its right of way, Kiamichi Electric is vigilant. A clean path for co-op power lines is a "must"for ensuring the safety of co- op employees and members, keeping member's comfortable, and delivering the most affordable service possible.

Keeping tree limbs and other obstacles away from power lines is an important part of your electric service for three reasons: safety, reliability, and cost.
