hen faced with a major power outage, it helps to understand

there's a system in place to get your lights back on.

At Choctaw Electric Cooperative, the main goal is to restore power to the greatest number of members in the shortest amount of time— and do it safely. First priority is given to medical facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes, and emergency services.

In severe storms with widespread damage, Choctaw Electric may need to physically assess damage before restoration begins. If you see a truck leave your area before your power comes back on, please rest assured your co-op is not ignoring your problem.

Often it is necessary for cooperative crews to repair or replace larger power lines or equipment before the line to your home or business is restored.

Once that work is complete, Choctaw Electric restores individual transformers and finally, smaller lines to individual homes and businesses.

The graphic on the left explains the restoration process in greater detail. To stay informed during an outage, Choctaw Electric's online outage map at www.choctawelectric.coop allows you to track the power restoration progress throughout the system. Outages are an inconvenience to everyone. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
