Reaping the rewards of cooperative membership

CEO VIEW

Investing in our youth BY JACK L. PERKINS

TCEC invests in our youth - the future leaders and members of the cooperative - in several ways. We give annual donations to area schools, we offer safety presentations and energy education and we send cooperative delegates on youth trips to several places every year.

This year, we will send three high school juniors on Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.; two high school juniors on Leadership Camp to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and four eighth grade students to Energy Camp at Canyon Camp near Hinton, Oklahoma. Each trip offers unique experiences that students will remember for a lifetime. I hope many of you who are parents, teachers or community leaders will encourage eligible youth to apply for these trips. More information about our youth trips is on page three of this issue.

As an electric cooperative, we are commited to improving the quality of life for those we serve. Helping develop the leadership skills of our youth and investing in their future is one of the ways we do this. n

As a member of Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC) you are an owner of the organization—with a vested interest in the cooperative. Tis means when the cooperative has margins, those margins are allocated to the members based on their purchases. Te cooperative uses this allocated margin as equity for a time then returns it to members as a patronage capital retirement at a future date.

For 2015, the TCEC Board of Trustees approved to refund patronage capital. Tanks to the financial position of the cooperative, $5.5 million were retired to members this year. Members who received service in 2010 were issued a check based on their patronage.

For more information about patronage capital, or if you have any questions regarding your check, please email info@tcec.coop or call us during regular business hours at 580.652.2418 or 800.522.3315.

Remember to keep your address current with the cooperative for future retirements. n
