Marines Test Combat Skills

M

arines and sailors of Com- bat Logistics Battalion 5 (CLB-5), 1st Marine Logistics

Group tested their combat skills during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 2-16 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif. Since mid-Jan- uary, the Marines have refi ned their skills through various scenario-based exercises. The ITX, designed to prepare units for

future combat operations, combines the ground, logistics, and air-combat elements of a Marine air-ground task force and eval- uates the participating units on their abil- ity to support operations while deployed.

and receive an assessment on our training from an outside source that is not biased,” says Marine Corps Capt. Nicholas Rice, assistant operations offi cer for headquar- ters and service company, CLB-5. During the ITX, Marines were in-

structed and graded on training events such as convoy operations, mass-casualty simulations, and indirect-fi re drills, spe- cifi cally designed to simulate realistic operations the Marines might face while supporting the 1st Marine Division during a deployment.

MOAA MILITARY FAMILY INITIATIVE Thanks to generous member support, 2015 was an outstanding year for the MOAA Military Family Initiative (MMFI). Over 2,900 individual, chapter, and corporate donors contributed $858,000 to help fund the 14 programs and services supported by MMFI. One such pro- gram, the MOAA Care- giver Support Program, an online information and referral service built around a caregiver- designed Web portal, re- ceived a national Summit Award from the Ameri- can Society of Associa- tion Executives (ASAE). This was MOAA’s sec- ond Summit Award. You can continue

to help this and other MMFI programs by joining MOAA’s annual fundraising campaign, “$25-in-’16.” MOAA is challenging every as- sociation member to

$25 in ’16

contribute at least $25 just once during 2016. Please donate and join the campaign today by visiting www.moaa .org/foundation.
