Have you ever wondered... what sound a tortoise makes while sleeping... a frigate bird makes soaring skyward... a Sally Lightfoot crab makes when out for a stroll... or what a sea lion’s beating heart sounds like? Long-distance microphones bring the hidden sounds of the Galápagos alive for you on a six-night cruise to wildlife-rich islands aboard an expeditionary-style yacht. Experience an opportunity to get up close to amazing creatures you can’t find anywhere else, like blue-footed boobies, sea lions, marine iguanas and Galápagos penguins. Explore it all with our onboard naturalists!

3.  THE VIEWS FROM GENOVESA ISLAND Set sail for horseshoe-shaped Genovesa Island, known among these parts as Bird Island for its abundance of feathered flocks, from frigate birds and Darwin’s finches to colorfully clad boobies, mockingbirds and storm petrels. Ride a panga to Prince Philip’s Steps, a steep path that leads you up rock-hewn steps to flat land for a walk to see a nesting colony of red-footed boobies. Conditions permitting, snorkel or kayak* in coastal waters, and later, join our naturalist for a walk along the cliff-lined volcanic caldera that is today Darwin Bay. Meals BLD

1. ARRIVE GUAYAQUIL Tour begins: Oro Verde Guayaquil. A transfer is included from Guayaquil’s José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport to Oro Verde Guayaquil. Most international flights arrive late in the day. Settle in for a good night’s rest before your adventure to the world’s ultimate natural zoo begins in the morning!

2. FLY TO SAN CRISTÓBAL /  ISABELA II Meet your fellow travelers this morning before flying to San Cristóbal Island where you will board your expeditionary ship, Isabela II. Attend a briefing by the ship’s captain and crew that includes information about your cruise*, and transferring ashore by panga (Zodiac-style rafts). To go ashore, you will experience wet landings that may require wading in shallow water as well as dry landings on rocky surfaces. Take your first panga ride to explore the sights of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the southwestern coast of the island. Meals BLD
