1. ARRIVE KYOTO Tour begins: Westin Miyako Kyoto. A transfer is included from Kansai International Airport or Osaka International Airport to Westin Miyako Kyoto or Hotel Granvia Kyoto. Settle in and have dinner tonight at your leisure in your hotel. Meals D

2. TEMPLES AND TRADITIONS OF KYOTO Immerse yourself today in the loveliness of classic Kyoto, city of 2,000 temples and shrines. Like a divine dream, the Zen Golden Pavilion, bathed in gold leaf and capped by a golden phoenix, sits in a landscape design meticulously preserved since the 1400s, with a strategically placed pond that reflects the shimmering temple. Step even further back in time into the Pure Water Temple, circa 780, home of the Jishu Shrine, dedicated to the deity of love and matchmaking, and the Otowa Waterfall, where you can drink to love, longevity, or success. After lunch at a local restaurant, your local guide leads you through the narrow medieval streets of the geisha district, Gion, lined with shops, fine restaurants, and teahouses. Enjoy some free time in Kyoto to explore as you please, then join us for a welcome reception, dinner, and geisha performance at a local restaurant. Meals BLD

4. HEIAN SHRINE /  EMBARK SHIP IN MAIZURU Say good-bye to Kyoto today with a visit to the Heian shrine, a powerful symbol of civic pride dedicated to the first and last emperors who ruled when Kyoto was the country’s capital. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll take a scenic drive to the port of pretty Maizuru, tucked in a bay off an inlet of the Sea of Japan. Your yacht, L’Austral, awaits.
