HSC MEETS FLOODS CHALLENGE
Hire Supply Co’s commitment to service was demonstrated over the Christmas period, when it reacted immediately to an urgent request for equipment in the aftermath of the severe flooding in northern England. On Boxing Day, HSC’s Steve McKenzie was contacted by Keiron Power of Wigan-based One Stop Hire to see if dehumidifiers could be supplied quickly to help with restoration work at many sites in the region. As a result, One Stop placed an order for a large number of units, for collection on Monday 28th. Although HSC was officially closed until the New Year, MD Gary McWilliam came in and opened up the head office and central stores in Long Eaton, together with warehouseman Aiden Gosling, so that the equipment could be collected immediately, ready to provide a rapid response as soon as the water had subsided.
Two drivers from One Stop arrived at HSC’s stores just before 10am on Monday and the dehumidifiers, together with ancillary equipment, were loaded up and back at base within a few hours. One Stop’s Kieron Power said, “I would like to thank Gary, Steve and Aiden for their support and excellent service by opening up over the Christmas holidays, and at such short notice, to provide us with the emergency dehumidifiers. This helped us to provide equipment to those affected in Yorkshire and the north west of England.” Gary McWilliam said, “It was tragic to see the effects of the flooding, and it was a pleasure to be able to help a hire company, whose customers needed assistance.”
A-Plant opens Tool Hire Express depot
A-Plant has opened a new depot in Bridgwater, under its Tool Hire Express branding. Mike Abbott, Regional Sales Director said, “We chose the site after seeing a real uplift in demand in the region. Being in the town centre, the new store is really accessible for customers, which is great for walk-in trade, plus there is ample on-site parking for customers collecting equipment.” A-Plant’s Lux Traffic Control and Management Division also operates from the site.
YHC adds Takeuchi machines
Yeovil-based YHC Hire Solutions recently took delivery of 49 Takeuchi mini excavators from local dealer, CBL Plant Sales. The order comprised seven 1180kg TB210R micro machines, twenty TB216 models in the 1.5-tonne class, and twenty-two TB230 minis weighing in at 2950kg.
All the machines have been supplied with a full set of new buckets and manual quick hitches. They have also been painted in the hirer’s distinctive corporate colours, with purple paintwork on the counterweights. YHC’s MD Andy Parker said, “Takeuchi provides versatile, powerful and robust machines that are easy to operate, accessible to service and are a popular choice for customers.” Operations Director, Jim Patch is pictured, left, receiving the new machines from CBL’s Phil Hooper. YHC has six depots in the south
