Holsteins dominated the interbreed championships at the Great Yorkshire Show taking four championship titles under interbreed judge Bernard Liddle


ikali Seaver D Erle took the overall interbreed title for David Wright who had double success in the Holstein championship. This second calver glided in to top spot in the breed championship. Classified VG89 as a heifer she calved again in March and is giving 54kg a day. She is back in-calf to sexed Crasdale Bankroll. Erle was purchased for 2400gns at the Genetic Elite Sale 2012 and as a heifer she stood first at UK Dairy Day and first senior two year old at UK Dairy Expo as well as reserve All Britain senior two year old 2014. She is the ninth generation of VG or EX, her dam is an EX94 Damion. Bernard Liddle commented: “The Holstein cow oozed dairy character, she was powerful and carries her milk high and wide.”


In the interbreed heifer championship Lizzie Miles led her family’s Littlebridge Shottle Honey 9 to take the honours. Shown six weeks fresh and giving 35kg a day she was shown successfully as a calf winning numerous championships at local shows. Sired by Shottle she is out of an Excellent dam by Gibson. The Blythewood Pairs championship saw the Holsteins take top spot with David Wright’s champion Mikali Seaver D Erle and reserve champion Berryholme Infloence Linda 3, also from David Wright. Winning the interbreed group of five were interbreed champion Mikali Seaver D Erle, reserve breed champion Berryholme Infloence Linda 3, interbreed heifer champion Littlebridge Shottle Honey 9, junior in-calf cow Carhall Goldwyn Elizabeth 3 and in-calf heifer Braimber Stanleycup Kim. Taking reserve spot was Berryholme Infloence Linda 3, a homebred EX95 classified fifth calver that calved in March and is giving 55kg a day. She is by Berryholme Infloence, an Integrity son out of Holmland Storm Flo and her dam is a VG85 scored Jed daughter.
