Want an interactive dark ride but don't have the space to build one? Dutch company Lagotronics Projects could have the solution for you. The GameChanger, which debuted this summer in the Chinese park Max Wonder,
offers all the laser-based fun you'd expect, but on a
rotating platform rather than a standard ride vehicle. What's more it's 3D too!
Game Changer T
he first unit, called Max Ranger, has been operational since July at Max Wonder Park in Shishi, Fujian Province. The ride features a 12m-diameter
platform with seven groups of four-seats and six game scenes. Visitors step into a vehicle as it is in the loading area and are then rotated clockwise towards the first screen, where they are given around 1 minute to interact
Still not small enough for
you? Want to offer an interactive gaming experience to your guests but don't have space for a dark ride nor a GameChanger? What are you like! Lagotronics Projects' standalone GameCabIN is a simple four-seater unit supplied together with a screen, projector and 2D, 3D, 4D (3D + effects). The ride vehicle does not move on a track, but depending on the length of experience/throughput operators want to achieve, more than one game or scene can be offered in a single session. The seats can also be mounted on a motion base. Each GameCabIN can be supplied with or without a coin-op mechanism. As with the GameChanger, Lagotronics Projects has its own library of games, or can create custom content just for you and your park/attraction.

All the fun of a dark ride in a fraction of the space!
with the 3D action on screen. After every turn, they get to play a new game. Every player has their own fantasy shooter and score monitor installed on the vehicle. During the ride players will enjoy a range of special effects, including wind, sounds and vibrations. At the end of the ride players can compare their personal score with the other guests on a score board. As well as media content, physical props and theming can also be incorporated. Lagotronics Projects CEO Mark Beumers says the
experience is not actually that different to that offered by a dark ride on a track. “On a typical interactive dark ride you have maybe 25 to 30 seconds' playing time in front of a screen and then about 10 to 15 seconds travelling time between scenes. What makes the GameChanger so game- changing, is the amount of space it saves. I think it's a very interesting concept for those parks that are looking for a great new interactive experience in a relatively small area.” The Max Ranger installation has an hourly capacity of 320 people, but configurations of up to 1,000 are possible by employing larger seating configurations and a platform of up to 25m. According to Lagotronics Projects, a patent is already pending.
