Flight of the Hippogriff is in fact the California park's first outdoor coaster, featuring a winding path that leads passengers through Hagrid’s pumpkin patch and by Hagrid’s Hut where Fang’s booming barks and occasional wails emanate from within the walls. Guests ride sat inside twin- seat wicker baskets that string together to form the Hippogriff.
Outside of Hogwarts Castle, a stage hosts daily
performances by The Frog Choir, Hogwarts students who are accompanied by large frogs on pillows, sing and croak an assortment of songs from the Potter films. The Owlery is a covered barn where Great Horned and tiny Scops owls perch high above the heads of visiting guests. With cleverly articulated movement, the lifelike owls, hoot, click and turn their heads, while fluttering their feathers. Below, guests can enjoy the scenery while seated at benches. Just beyond the Hogwarts Express, guests can encounter an interactive photo opportunity where they can partake in memorable movie scenes. Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Owl Post, Zonko’s Joke Shop, Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods let guests experience and purchase merchandise from magic wands and robes to Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans. Visitors can also sit in on a small show where one audience member is chosen to interact with the Wandkeeper as he begins a mesmerizing and entertaining experience in which the wand chooses the wizard. Guests can also have fun window shopping a variety of eclectic storefront facades have been authentically- recreated from the Harry Potter films. These include Dominic Maestro’s Music Shop and Dogweed and Deathcap, a shop that sells exotic plants and flowers. Madam Puddifoot’s is a cozy tearoom of delectable sweet treats. Spintwitches is a small merchant where Quidditch supplies and other fine sporting equipment is sold. Tomes and Scrolls is a specialty bookstore, while Ceridwen’s Cauldron Shop sells the pots in every shape and size. Hogsmeade also offers Universal guests an array of classic British food at The Three Broomsticks including Bangers & Mash, Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Sunday Roast and Fish & Chips. Rounding out the hearty fare are such treats as Butterbeer potted cream and sticky toffee pudding. Gathering inspiration from historic British taverns, the adjoining Hog’s Head pub features exclusive draught beers and spirits including Hog’s Head Brew, Dragon’s Scale, Wizard’s Brew and Fire Whisky. Guests can also enjoy a Butterbeer, served traditionally and frozen as well as pumpkin juice, pumpkin fizz and Gilly Water. Butterbeer is also available from large barrel shaped carts elsewhere in the Wizrading World. This sweet, non-alcholic treat is expected to be a big seller in Hollywood, just as it has been in Orlando, Osaka and at the Warner Bros Studio Tour near London.

Tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood for opening day of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on April 7 sold out, marking the first time ever that the LA theme park has had to halt online ticketing transactions. Anticipation for the long-awaited land also lead to the sell-out of all specialty products, including the popular VIP Experience and front of line ticket option for opening day and the following two days.
