month in Shanghai, bringing with it more than 325


exhibitors, a comprehensive education programme and


exclusive access to Shanghai Disneyland

confirmed On Thursday, June 16, after what it is hoped will be a successful conclusion of AAE 2016, participants are invited to catch a glimpse of the opening ceremony to Shanghai Disneyland during the event A Magical Evening at Shanghai Disney Resort. The event begins with an exclusive reception at The Boathouse restaurant, includes two hours in Shanghai Disneyland park and concludes with a viewing of Ignite the Dream – A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light. Tickets are $125 for IAAPA members. Those wanting to spend a little longer at what promises to be the most spectacular Disney theme park to date may wish to enjoy A Day at Shanghai Disneyland on Friday, June 17, when IAAPA has secured a limited number of general admission tickets, on sale for $90 to IAAPA members, including transportation.

ccording to IAAPA’s Global Theme and Amusement Park Outlook 2015-2019 report, annual park visitorship in the Asia-Pacific region is


expected to reach 540 million by 2019, accounting for 45% of global attendance, up from 41% in 2014 and 34% in 2009. Those 325+ exhibitors promised at AAE 2016 will


be spread across 10,000 net square meters of exhibition space, making this the region’s premier trade show and conference for the theme park and attractions industry. More than 8,000 participants from 65 countries are expected to take part in this year’s event, from Tuesday to Thursday, June 14 to 16. The supporting AAE conference programme offers 11 seminars on a variety of topics including intellectual property use, cultural sensitivity and regional awareness, safety, revenue generation, facility excellence, human resources and more. Confirmed speakers include Doug Akers of Universal Parks and Resorts, Jonathan Casson from 20th Century Fox, Matthias Li of Ocean Park, Brad Loxley from Luna Park Sydney, Ripley Entertainment’s Jim Pattison Jnr, plus representatives of leading attraction designers and suppliers including Thinkwell, WhiteWater and Forrec.

the IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers is a two-and-a-half-day programme that blends classroom instruction and case studies with field work in finance, revenue operations, marketing, leadership, facility operations and safety. Meanwhile the IAAPA Safety Institute on


AAE attendees will be able to celebrate the launch of Shanghai Disneyland, which opens immediately after the show


Monday, June 13, provides an opportunity for attractions operators and owners to learn about the latest developments and best practices in ride and waterpark safety standards, loss prevention, risk management, ride design, and safety compliance. Advance registration and additional fees apply to both these IAAPA institutes. The trade show will be officially opened on Tuesday morning, June 14, with a 45-minute presentation in the IAAPA Theatre, free to all AAE badge holders. Later that day, the same venue will host an Opening Reception where attendees can mix and mingle with the who's who of the Asia-Pacific attractions industry. Tickets are US$79/99 (IAAPA members/non-members). On Wednesday morning, June 15, Jim Seay will deliver


the AAE Leadership Breakfast, focusing on the topic of safety. The Premier Rides president is also chairman of the IAAPA Global Safety Committee and a member and immediate past-chair of ASTM Committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices, giving him a unique perspective. Tickets are $69/89. Wednesday evening offers a choice of events including


the Young Professionals Forum and Reception and Shanghai Ocean Aquarium Guided Tour, where attendees can meet with the management team. English and Mandarin translations will be provided for all registrants.
