SEASON PREVIEW: NORTH AMERICA
NEW SHOWS Electric Ocean will debut this summer at both SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Diego as a brand new, end-of-day spectacle. As the sun goes down, the lights and energy go up, offering guests a different kind of fun after dark as the ocean comes to life with bioluminescent lighting, music and pathway entertainment.
MULTIMEDIA ATTRACTIONS • Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Resort, California: Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout. Re-imagineered Tower of Terror featuring new visual and audio effects, unique ride profiles and music/theming inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy films, a second instalment of which is due for release this year.
• Universal Studios Florida, Orlando: Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon. Flying theatre featuring pre-show with “hilarious segments” from NBC’s The Tonight Show. Fallon may not be familiar to some of Universal's foreign guests but many of the Manhattan landmarks featured in the ride film will be.
• Six Flags Over Georgia outside Atlanta, Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and Six Flags Magic Mountain, California: Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. Latest versions of hit mixed-media 4D interactive dark ride dedicated to DC Comics Superheroes. Turnkey provider Sally Corporation teaming up again with Pure Imagination Studios (3D graphics and film), Alterface (gaming elements) and Oceaneering (ride vehicles).
WOODEN COASTERS • Kings Island, Ohio: Mystic Timbers (Great Coasters International). 3,255ft/995m long woodie including 16 airtime hills through wooded terrain.
• Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia: InvadR (Great Coasters International). 2,118ft/646m-long, steel frame, repurposed trains from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s retired Gwazi ride.
• Fun Spot America, Kissimmee, Florida: Mine Blower (Gravity Group). Only wooden coaster in the southeast United States with a 360° barrel roll. Total track length 2,256ft (688m).
STEEL COASTERS • SeaWorld San Antonio, Texas: Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster (Intamin watercraft-themed rollercoaster, first of its kind in North America)
• Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Great America and Six Flags New England: The Joker (S&S – Sansei 4D Free Spin)
• Playland's Castaway Cove, Ocean City, New Jersey: Gale Force (S&S – Sansei Triple Launch Coaster) and Wild Waves (E&F Miler)
• Dutch Wonderland, Pennsylvania: Merlin's Mayhem (S&S – Sansei suspended family coaster)
• Casino Pier, Seaside Heights, New Jersey: Hydrus (Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter)
